to be forced silent

is it gramatically correct to say the aforementioned?

Top answer

You'd be on much safer ground using "to be forced into silence"; very few native English-speakers would use "to be forced silent".

It might be used in poetry, I suppose, but it is not really usable in ordinary conversation. to be forced to be silent is the normal form.
