[in order] To be clear about the type of writing you are aiming for is an adverbial of purpose (function) and a non-finite clause (form) in which "To be" is predicator, "clear about the type of writing you are aiming for" a complement where the prepositional phrase "about the type of writing you are aiming for" adverbially modifies the adjective "clear", the head of the adjective phrase "clear about the type of writing you are aiming for" (i.e,functioning as a complement in the non-finite clause).

the type of writing you are aiming for is a noun phrase (form) in which the type of writing is the head (function) of the phrase and the relative clause (that) you are aiming for is its modifier (function).
