To be and to stay?

Hi, I know that in english I have to said:

"The chair is in the hall" and "The party is in the kitchen"

but what do you think if I say :

"The chair stays in the hall" and "The party stays in the kitchen"

I would like to know if both "to stay" sentences are incorrects in the same way or one is more incorrect than the other???

Thank you so much.
