TO BE ABLE TO vs TO ALLOW YOU TO

How would you say this sentence please?

- There is rubber around the pen where you place your finger in order for the person to be able to grip the pen well./in order to allow the person to grip it well. (this sounds off?? how would you say it?)

How would you say this please?

- I turn to the middle of the magazine in one go/ my first try. I didn't have to skim through to find the centerfold.?? (can you also say centerfold?)

Thank you

For the first one, I would say: There is rubber around the pen at the finger hold that allows the user to grip the pen well. For the second, in casual usage "in one go" would be fine, or "on my first try". I'm not sure what you are asking about "centerfold" as you spell it the exact same way both times.

  • The second sentence in the second grouping is correct as, "I didn't have to skim through to find the centerfold.
  • I'm not sure what the question marks are about after the period, unless they relate to your following question about centerfold or centerfold, which I also don't understand.
