To be

'My job is not to be somebody's chamcha'

https://m.rediff.com/movies/report/my-job-is-not-to-be-somebodys-chamcha/20170706.htm

The Hindi word "chamcha" means sycophant .

I understand the meaning completely.

I am sorry for asking the same question but why do we need "to be" and what does it exactly mean in the context?

Does it mean to become?

Thanks
