To be

Hello,

The work is said to be done when a point of application of force is displaced in the direction of the force.

I could not understand the meaning of the words underlined.

I want to know the construction of the "is said to be done"?

Does it indicate for future time work?

Thanks.

We say "Work is done" when ...

We give it the special name "work" when (something gets moved by a force).

We say that work [in the physics definition] is done upon an object when a force applied to the object causes a displacement of the object in the direction of the force.

Mathematically: W = F x d, where W - work; F - force; d - displacement.
