Norm and Maria are a married couple.

1.Norm is married with Maria.
2.Norm is married to Maria.

Why is the first sentence is wrong?

As you probably know, the use of prepositions is very idiomatic. We use them because we use them. A person is married TO someone else, not WITH someone else. It's just the way we say it.

Both sentences are wrong, because I know Norm and he is married to Gladys.

I firmly recognize both of you. I have been hibernating for sometime.
You know I am busy with French and Russian forums. When I find time, I send questions to those forums. It is very rare I send questions to English forum.
