Title of Table

Hello. I am writing a research paper and am struggling with titles of tables. My concern is about using the plural and possessive pronouns. For example, which of the following titles sounds better, considering that my data set consists of 20 texts, each of which has its own theoretical approach related to a particular discipline?

1 - Theoretical approaches of the selected papers and classification in terms of disciplinary origin.

2 - Theoretical approaches of the selected papers and their classification in terms of disciplinary origin.

3 - Theoretical approach of the selected papers and classification in terms of disciplinary origin.

4 - Theoretical approaches of the data and classification in terms of disciplinary origin.

Thank you!

All of yours are fine and of about the same quality, but I am inclined to keep such titles short and sweet. You can make a title quite sketchy if you explain the table in the text. Just provide enough to identify it, maybe "Theoretical Approaches and Disciplinary Origins".

  • If I understood how you are going to incorporate both factors in the one table, I might do better than that.

It seems to me that the topic of the selected papers is entirely missing. Wouldn't that be worth including in your table titles?
