Tinker,fiddle

Hi,

We have a handle in our shower that controls the temperature, and it always takes us at least two minutes to get it into the right position.

Could I use one of these in that situation?

I know that 'tinker' is mostly used to mean 'make small adjustments to' and all I do is move the handle around, so I'm not entirely sure if it fits.

As for 'fiddle', that also doesn't seem quite right.

Is there perhaps a specific word that'd work best in the given scenario?

Thank you. Emotion: smile
