Hi,
In "I felt this time maybe it is not a bad idea not to be on time", I'm actually talking about the thought I had at the moment I made the decision. In fact "this time maybe it is not a bad idea not to be on time" is a direct quotation that obviously can't be stated explicitly in conversation. (except by facial expressions maybe?)
So, is it intelligible and OK to say it that way or should I change 'this' and 'is' to 'that' and 'was'?
I still have difficulty completely understanding time consistency, so if there is a rule which is universally agreed on, I'd be grateful if you introduce it to me.
Thank you.
