time #2

I'm not interested in revealing when but would like to tell someone about what I did. What's the idiomatic time phrase ? Specifically,

[There was once/In the past/Once upon a time...], I caught a 10 pound catfish.

It's true that I could simply say "I caught a 10 pound catfish" but that is a bit dull.

Thanks!

Top answer

Once, I caught a ten-pound catfish. I once caught a ten-pound catfish. I caught a ten-pound catfish once.

  • Once, I caught a ten-pound catfish.
  • I once caught a ten-pound catfish.
  • I caught a ten-pound catfish once.
  • Fancier: I can still remember the time (when) I caught a ten-pound catfish.
  • Don't use once upon a time .

Don't use once upon a time. That's associated with telling a story to children.
