Tight/tightly

ex) The huge stones for these walls were placed very tight/tightly together


Telling the difference between 'tight' and 'tightly' is very hard.

I think both of them can be used in the sentence above, but I'm not sure if 'tight' can be used.

Could you tell me how to use 'tight' and 'tightly' ?
