Tie-break: /brek/ or /breik/?

Is it me or is this term usually used in tennis pronounced /brek/?

Common sense dictates it should be said /breik/, though.

Thanks, that's what I thought. But I swear 99% of the Spanish speaking commentators pronounce it wrongly: /brek/.

Well, it appears that espanish speakers are replacing with a monophthongal vowel that lies between a BET vowel and a BATE vowel.

And you are surprised that non-native speakers don't pronounce words correctly?

Strange reaction. I would assume as a matter of course that non-natives would mispronounce a great many words.

Yes, but I assumed those involved in tennis (players, coaches, commentators)would know how to pronounce it since they are used to the English language; most of them speak it fluently.
