Tickled pink

I read this example in the merriam-webster dictionary:I'm so glad that you've decided to join us. In fact, I'm tickled pink, (if you'll) excuse the expression.

According to the dictionary's explanation:People say excuse/pardon/forgive the expression when they are using a word or phrase that might offend or annoy someone.My question is:how come tickled pink is a phrase that might offend or annoy someone?

It is not offensive, but it is rather juvenile in tone. Or perhaps the sentence was quoted from a context in which 'tickled' and/or 'pink' have some further possible significance.

Thank you for your recommendation.It is really helpful.The Merriam-Webster Collegiate is a little difficult for me.I am using Merriam-Webster's Advanced Learner's English Dictionary now.Its explanations are very clear and it has many illustrative sentences.
