Me: "Hi Mary, I am going away to Hawaii."
Mary: "Really? are you going for sure?"
Me: "Yes, I already bought [the] tickets."
Is it correct without "the" before tickets? Or must it be "the tickets"? I didn't mention them before, so I think I prefer not to use the definite article here. But is it an error either way?
Both versions are OK, but I find the definite article more natural.
