"thus" confusing placement question.

Hi,
I am having problems determining the placement of "thus" in a sentence.

For example:

A car is fast and is thus his favorite.

Here, is it "is thus" or "thus is"? Does it matter?

Similarly...

...and thus can be used to...

or

...and can thus be used to...

Does it matter?

Confused...Help!!!

In my opinion, it doesn't matter. Both are commonly used. Of course, not many people use "thus" in casual conversation.

Thank you very much for your reply.
Do you think it doesn't matter even in formal written communication?

Yes, I do. Actually, I think it's hard to find "thus" other than in formal written communication.
