Thrust one's inadequacies on to...

Hi

Is this utterance in bold natural? Any suggestions are welcome.

(A fight between a man and his son...
The man blames his son for some shortcomings in his character. The son believes that his father had a few inadequacies which caused many shortcomings in his children. The son says:)

Don’t try to thrust your inadequacies on to me, Father. You should have faced up to them (inadequacies) long ago. You know the reason for the faults/shortcomings in my character.

Thanks,

Tom
