"THROWN CLEAR"?

What does the phrase even mean????
The context goes as "I know some people that claim that they'll never wear seatbelts because if they're in an accident THEY WANT TO BE THROWN CLEAR!"

I have no idea what that's supposed to mean, at all. And I can't find a result on any dictionary either. I guess the meaning is supposed to be the person' being throw out of the windows or windshield of the car without any holdback at all?

Thanks in advance to anyone who answers this!:)
