If coconuts were caution, you should not throw coconuts to the wind.

Clearly the author has adapted the expression in reference to the earlier mention of coconuts, but I still can't say that I really understand it.

The only thing I could find with that expression was an article on Powerball, a lottery game.

My guess is that this is an attempt to make a clever variant on the well-known expression, "to throw caution to the wind", which means to take a great risk or to become very careless.

If you include the phrase about the falling coconut earlier in your translation, you can simply translate this phrase as if it were "Coconuts aside" or something like "Not taking coconuts into consideration" or "Not counting the case of the coconut".
