Vocabulary

throw sth away/out

"out" or "away"
Could you describe which one is appropriate for what situation? (is this sentence correct? I was unsure about what)

Hi, As far as i'm concerned, "throw out" and "throw away" both carry the same meaning in terms of "getting rid of sth that you don't want any more". For example, you can use either of them in this sentence : "Don't throw those papers out/away, i'm going to need them" However, "throw out" has 2 more meanings. 1) throw sth out=not to accept or refuse(an idea, plan, etc) 2)throw sb out=drop sb out( to force sb leave a school, college, race, etc) Elnur
