The traditional American Christmas celebration includes a Christmas tree; you bring a small evergreen tree indoors and decorate it. The fat guy is Santa Claus, who brings the Christmas presents from the North Pole on a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer.

So, here, "throw in" has the same meaning with "bring indoors" (as you mentioned) ?

Ah. No. "Throw in" is an expression. It means to casually add as an afterthought or as an extra. It's like when you make soup, and you throw in whatever scraps you happen to have.
