Throughout all this/that

A man was in the hospital for a lot of time because of sickness. In that time he didn't see his daughter. It's been a week since he came home from the hospital, and he has seen his daughter once since then.

The man is talking with a woman about his time in the hospital...

Woman: But now you're finally feeling well. So why aren't you happier?

Man: Because I have a daughter I didn't see throughout all this/that.

- Is the underscored part natural in the context? Or what else could I say? (I prefer something informal)

- This or that?
