Through/For

1.Nubia was the principal corridor through which cultural influences were transmitted between Black Africa and the Mediterranean basin.

2.Nubia was the principal corridor through for the transmitting of cultural influences between Black Africa and the Mediterranean basin.

Guys..

Which one is correct? Is there any difference between above two sentences?

Sorry it was a typo.. The second sentence is without through

Nubia was the principal corridor for the transmitting of cultural influences between Black Africa and the Mediterranean basin.

Should n't it be The transmitting? Basically, Preposition are to be followed by Noun... So if I used transmitting how could one differentiate whether it is used as ver

The whole clause is the object of the preposition (transmitting...basin). 'Transmitting' is a nonfinite verb form in that sentence.
