Through the night = All night long

Hi teachers,
When did he walk?
He walked through the night.
What does "through the night" mean? Do both of them mean the same?
a) all night long, all through the night.
b) during the night.

If we say 'During the night', doesn't it mean that he walked 'all night long'?
