Through

Hello....

a. He read through the report.

b. He read the report through.

********

If through is a preposition, “read through” means to “read quickly”, and if it is a particle, it means “read something thoroughly”?

So, the “through” in a. can be either a preposition or a particle and the “through” in b. is definitely a particle?
