Thrive/flourish

Hi,
could you please tell me the difference between using "flourish" and "thrive"? My dictionary lists very similar meanings, referring to both of them as "become successful, happy etc."
So, could I use both verbs in the following sentence??? Enlighten me.

Her business is flourishing/thriving now that she employed some diligent people.

Thanks in advance!

  • Yes, you can use both verbs -- but not at the same time!
  • I can't remember the last time I used either one of those verbs.

I can't remember the last time I used either one of those verbs. They're not among the top 100.

Thank you for your reply, CJ.
What about "blossom"? Is it more frequent? Thank you in advance!

Just guessing, I'd say that it's even less frequent than the other two.
