'threw the ball up off the GLASS and caught his own pass'

'The night saw him he dribbled the ball with his head, scored a behind the back, no look the basket-dribbled the length of the court, threw the ball UP OFF THE GLASS and caught his own pass.'

What does mean exactly this "GLASS" on this sentence about the legendary basketball player Maravich?

Thanks in advance, Jo.
