Three weeks into

He blew out his knee three weeks into his rookie year. I can understand "three weeks before/after his rookie year". But "three weeks into his rookie year" confuses me. When does he blow out his knee?

Top answer

It means three weeks after the start of his rookie year. So, he was only playing for three weeks before the injury happened.
