Three sentences

Hello teachers. Will you check if these three sentences all are ok and pls let me know which of them would be most common in conversation.

I thought I was pretty clear last time about why I didn't want to go.

I thought I was being pretty clear last time about why I didn't want to go.

I thought I had been pretty clear last time about why I didn't want to go.

All three are grammatical. The second one is the best to use - the word "being" is attention-getting and informal and folksy. The third one is too formal - the past perfect is cumbersome in ordinary conversation.
