Three quick questions

There are lives at stake here. This is not the time to be a hero. So you leave it (up) to us, the real heroes, to handle this. Do you hear me?

1) Does this seem natural to you?

2) Is 'be' correct or is 'become' better?

3) Should I add 'up'?

1) Does this seem natural to you? Yes.

2) Is 'be' correct or is 'become' better? I don't see a lot of difference here. I prefer 'be'.

3) Should I add 'up'? I don't see a lot of difference here. I think I prefer not to use 'up'.
