Three questions to paragraph

Hi teachers. I wrote this:

The gangster shoots at the cop, who dives into cover behind a car. Another cop arrives and fires at the gangster. The gangster fires back at the cop, who takes cover behind a dumpster. Suddenly the gangster runs out of bullets. He quickly pulls out another gun as the cop behind the car jumps out. The gangster resumes shooting and kills him.

3 questions:

1) Is dives into cover behind a car okay?

2) My intention is not that the gangster quickly pulls out another gun because the cop jumps out. The intention is just that it happens at the same time. Is as okay to mean that or is it not clear? And if so, would you change it?

3) Is jumps out okay? (He jumps out from behind the car) Or would you change the whole sentence to something like: ...as the other cop jumps out from behind the car. ?

Thank you.

1) I would say either "dives for cover behind a car" or, simply, "dives behind a car."

2) "As" is okay, but if you want it to be clearer, say "just as."

3) "Jumps out" is okay.
