three questions in need of answers

1. Why is there no article "the" in the italicized sentence when the defn it had for the word "registration" showed the article "the" as part of its definition?

(from Collins/cobuild Advanced English Dictionary)

REGISTRATION: The registration of something such as a person's name or the details of an event is the recording of it in an official list.

They have campaigned strongly for compulsory registration of dogs.

2. In the sentences below, I think I can do either with and without the determiner "the." What do you think?

I must do things that are important to me first.

I must do the things that are important to me first.

3. I have some uncomfortablility of it using the word bonds as an adjective. What do you think?

1-- Registration is an uncountable process as well as an individual act. Many dictionaries do not make an overt distinction between countable and uncountable uses of a noun. 2-- Yes, I agree.
