What are the three forms of verbs?

In English, every verb has four forms:

  1. base form (infinitive)
  2. past
  3. present participle
  4. past participle
Note that the verb tense is not the same as the verb form. Verb forms are used to make the tenses, but they are not equivalent.

In addition to what my friends said, verbs are classified into three categories based on their functions as below;

1. Auxiliary Verbs;

am, is, are, was, were, be, being, been, have/has(in perfect tenses), do, does

2. Modal Verbs

can, could, may, might, will, would, shall, should, must, ought to, have/has to

3. Main Verbs

wash, watch, go, com
