I didn't want to pay for three months of course, so I decided not to take summer school.

Or

I didn't want to pay for three months of class, so I decided not to take summer school.

ARe both useable and interchangeable.

If you feel you must emphasize that point, then that sentence of mine won't do, no. However, three months of class is not exactly music to this particular native ear, but, hey, that's just me.

I didn't want to pay for the whole three-month course and attend only half of it, so I decided not to go to summer school this year.

To take school isn't very idiomatic
