this thread ceremony is like inviting a boy to adulthood . i came to know that it is called baptism in christianity. i want know if that boy also wear thread as symbol of discipline in christianity? it is there in budhism and i want to know what this thread ceremony is called? thanks

Jewish boys have a bar mitzvah on becoming men, but Christian baptism is equally for boys and girls and is performed either on babies or adults on conversion- it is in no way a coming-of-age ceremony but signifies joining Christ's church. The Buddhist one is a general tradition that can be carried out by an elder or monk as a blessing on another- any age, any ***, any number of times.
