thoughts or thought?

I've across the expression "she's lost in thoughts." I've always thought "s" is unnecessary in this expression. Are both expressions actually possible?

(The following is US usage.)

The sentence, "She's lost in thoughts.", is ungrammatical. It should be either: "She's lost in her thoughts." or "She's lost in thought."

Thank you:-) So "one's" makes a difference. I guess the writer made a mistake or it's just a typo:-)

You're right. The idiom is "lost in thought". I've never heard it with the "s" though it's not unheard of.
