Thought control

Good afternoon.

Do you think there is a possibility, even a faint one, that in the lyrics:

'We don't need no thought control'

the word 'thought' is considered as the past participle of the verb think?

That way the form of control could be a thought, a planned one, that is not spontaneous.

Thank you

It is a noun, not a verb. I assume you mean "the Wall" by Pink Floyd? We don`t need no thought control means we want freedom of thought.

Hi

Great lyric - it's The Clash, of course

No, I think it's just a simple noun phrase: 'thought + control' = 'thought control'. It's true that 'thought' is the past participle of 'to think', but 'thought' is also a noun in its own right - just meaning the things that are going through your head - and that's how it's being used here
