Those he plays

Hey,
I've got a question,
There's a very famous song of Sting- Shape of my heart

"He deals the cards as a meditation
and those he plays never suspect"...

I like this song very much- but I cannot understand the meaning of tese two lines.
I think that the first line means that he usually plays cards, and that that he is doing it for his soul (meditation), but what does the second line means: does it mean that those people whom he plays with never suspect his intentions, or something else?

I would really appreciate whoever give me his explanation.

Thanks,
Galia
