The film will open big enough. There's enough FB status updates that it will take incredibly bad word of mouth to discourage those folks from seeing it, however disppointed they become. And IMO, the first Transformers was Michael Bay's best film, if there could be such a thing. But I probably won't see the second until DVD, just like the first time. I'm a fan of the cartoon and Orson Welles' last movie.

Why did they "borrow" the plot from tv show "Chuck" (they want what's in my mind).
Seems like even 12 years who like shiny machines will see through that?

Unfortunately, Transformers 2 will make gobs of money this weekend, as irresponsible parents take mobs of kids to see this. Michael Bay shows how well he knows what's on the mind of the average American, including a total lack of knowledge of Geography, with the climax at the Pyramids of Giza, walking distance from the Jordanian ruins at Petra, and everything occuring on the tip of the Sinai Peninsula, I think.
And what is it about Shia La Beouf convincing directors that they have to pay homage to their entire anthology? I saw a Pearl Harbor sneak attack, meteors falling to earth, even nods to the Indy films, Alien, Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, and when a character asks if the other has seen Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, I'm asking myself if it's cause they were running out of movies to rip off.
Yet the friend who dragged me kicking and screaming to this said, "It was good." Unfortunately, I can no longer vouch that he might not be a possible terror suspect. But let's just have Al Brooks leave Miyazaki alone for a minute and tackle the logic of this film. Shia's breaking up with Megan Fox, or rather she with him, but he's all cool about it, and she's the first one on the scene when the Decepticons Gremlin-ize the house from the first film. And a Sector 7 agent successfully calls in a bombing strike on a UNESCO World Heritage Site, including the use of a Top Secret weapon, when he was supposed to have been demoted and his organization dismantled.
Yes, the plotholes are big enough for the Autobots to run the Autobahn through. But there are explosions and digital danger galore. There was minor applause at the climactic payoff moments (meaning those hands echoed too small to convince me they were over the age of 18).

And Paul, you have to see this. How in Liberal Hollywood was a film bashing Obama's effectiveness against the War on Terror ever greenlit? What Bay knows that y'all don't is the political affiliation of the people who've said they can't wait to see this film on Facebook.
