This versus next

I call Sunday coming "this" Sunday but my wife says it should be called "next Sunday. I say "next" Sunday refers to the following Sunday, not Sunday coming. Who is right?

"This" and "next" (and "last" too) are ambiguous. I don't think there's one right answer here.
