"THIS", "THAT" AND "IT"

Hi guys

You guys would never confuse between "this" and "that" in conversations, but it is difficult for us sometimes to use "this" and "that" correctly. Eg, That is great, I love that/this... etc

So, I am thinking if we use "it" all the time instead of "this" or "that", would it work better for us?

Can you guys think of any examples?

Kind regards

Perhaps proximity (how close something is) has some relevance : 1) I love this (picture that I am holding; thing that is close to me) 2) I love that (picture over there; thing that is farther away).
