This sentence bothers me...

Hi!
This sentence bothers me... but I cannot figure out how to rewrite it. Can you help me?

The purpose of the workshop was to inform a wider range of professionals and parties involved in preserving the German arhitectual heritage on innovative, but lesser known in Germany technologies and materials for restoration of builidngs, as well as good practice examples regarding researches on historic buildings and restoration thereof, and to allow them to discuss these topics.
