This movie brought me to tears/ brought me tears.

Hi teachers!

Today I have a question abou 'bring A to B'. We normally use the verb 'bring' like the below.

1. He brought me the coffee.

2. He brought the coffee to me.


However, I have come across the expression like in 3 so many times and wonder why we do not say like 4.

3. This movie brought me to tears.

4. This movie brought tears to me. (?)

5. This movie brought me tears. (?)

6. This movie brought tears me. (X)
