This morning, the car refused to start

Which of the following sentences is correct?

1) This morning, the car refused to start.

2) This morning, the car wouldn't start.

If both are possible, do they mean the same thing?

If so, which would you use?

Also, in your own words, how would you say this?

Thank you.

They are both correct and commonly heard. I use #2. #1 makes it sound like the car has a mind of its own and is refusing to start just to annoy you.
