I think both of the sentences need to be edited a little bit, replacing "to discuss" with "discussing". No other grammar problem is found.

I wouldn't do that. "to discuss" is an infinitive of purpose. It tells us why the meeting took place. The -ing form discussing doesn't convey that idea, so the replacement you suggest wouldn't work as well.
