This is/That is/These are/Those are/It is (Please help)

Hello! I have difficulty with these words. I have researched them but I can't find a proper answer. I will write down all the sentences that I know and please tell me the most correct answer grammarly.

? What is this?

- This/that is an apple.

- It is an apple

I know we can use both of them when we ask questions with "this" and I know when we use "this/that" but which one is more correct grammarly? Which answer do we prefer most? ""this/that" or "it" ?

? What is it?

- It is an apple.

- This/that is an apple.

I know we can use all of them when we ask questions with "it" and I know when we use "this/that" but which one is more correct grammarly? I mean, do we answer with "it" or "this/that" when the question is asked with "it" ? So, which answer do we prefer most? "It" or "this/that" ?

? What are these/those?

- They are apples.

- These/those are apples.

Can we use both of the answers? Which one is more proper?

? Is it an apple?

- Yes, it is. / Yes, this/that is.

Which one is used as answer when we use "it" in the question? "it" or "this/that" ?

? Is this/that an apple?

- Yes, this/that is. / Yes, it is.

Which one is used as answer when we use "this" in the question? "this/that" or "it" ?

? Are these/those apples?

- Yes, these/those are. / Yes, they are.

Which one is more correct? And is it correct to use short answers of "these/those" like this?

? Are they apples?

- Yes, they are. / Yes, these/those are.

Which one is more correct? And is it correct to use short answers of "these/those" like this?

I know I write down too much. I am a student of the department of translation and interpretation. I want to know their most proper answers. Thanks you.

The speaker answers his own question, "This is an apple." or "It is an apple."

Both are correct; however the same pronoun (this) is more likely.

The other person answers the speaker, "That

When the speaker uses it, the person who answers usually repeats the same pronoun. If the object is far away, the demonstrative "that" can be used.

eg.

I just heard a loud noise! What was it?

Oh, it was the janitor emptying the bin. (Repeating the pronoun.)
Oh, that was the janitor emptyin

Here the speaker is pointing to several objects - these, being nearby, and those, being distant.

If the objects are distant from the speaker and close to the responder:

A: What are those papers in your hand?

B: Oh, they are my class notes.
