This is she, this is her?

"This is she" is the proper way of saying it in most contexts (i think!, seem to remember!)

It's rarely used though, it's more common to say "This is her" or something similar but I knoooow it's wrong:

Here's one that sounds correct in English:

"Which one is Jane?"
"This is her"

But it would sound terrible like

Yes yes, "This is she" is correct. People always whine, though, that doing this is stuffy and pretentious. This is why I have taken to referring to myself and others in the third person (e.g. "It is Lenny who is walking towards us" instead of "It is he who is walking towards us.). Then I just end up sounding weird instead of pretentious. And I can deal with weird.

This is "SHE" is the correct way. Just think of it like this...if someone is telling you the name of a person...how would they word it to you...for example:

SHE is Mary or HER is Mary?

The correct one, of course, is "SHE is Mary". so, Instead of saying "This is Mary" you would say.."This is SHE..."

Both are used. Both are fine. In your English class, especially if you have a teacher from an older generation of English teachers, you may be told to use "This is she".
