This is quite surprising. I had to play this video again and again to make sure I'm not dreaming.

I’d match the tenses.

I had to play this video again and again to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.

You’ll hear the original, though.

I didn't change 'I'm not dreaming' because the ''This is quite surprising' clearly shows the speaker has a focus on the present.

Without such a focus, I'd probably say

To me, it makes more sense to match the tenses within the same sentence.
