Topic: Some people think that newly built houses should follow the style of the old houses in the local areas, while others think that people should have freedom to build houses of their own styles.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion

My essay:

People have different views about whether or not new houses should be built bear a resemblance to architectural style of the old houses in the local areas. Although someone argue that people have right to build their own houses in order to satisfy their own interest, I would like all buildings in a particular area should have the same style.

It stands to reason for people prefer having freedom to build their houses. First, houses can be a best way reflects the wealth or status of its owner. Obviously, if someone desire the acceptance of others, they would like to have a unique architectural style of their houses so that their houses might be became distinguished and they can gain the admiration of some else. Second, the variety of style in houses would greatly contribute to the diverse image of the town. This is not only enhance the image of some particular places but it also give these areas a wings to spread its famous.

On the other hand, there are some reasons why houses should share the same appearance. The first reasons is that it will foster a sense of community and equality in a residential area. It will make others feel inferior and less confident when socialising with their neighbours as if someone show off their wealth by constructing luxury houses. Second, when modern houses follow the style of the old ones in local areas, this helps preserver traditional and cultural values; furthermore, it is easier for government supervise the process of constructing in order to guarantee to keep safety for the inhabitants.

To sum up, even though there are some justifications for houses in an area to be built in the own design of its owner, I am of the opinion that the new houses should keep appearance of the old buildings in order to save traditional values and create a equality community.
