Topic: Nowadays it is not only large companies that can be able to make films. Digital technology enables anyone to produce films. Do you think this is a positive or negative development?
My essay:
In recent times, by using mobile or computer, people are able to make their own film. Although this development has a positive aspect, I still consider the negative effects outweigh the advantages.
To begin with, the main advantage aspect of this trend is what people can produce a film at a low cost. According to some reports that the average cost of making a movie for some big entertainment companies is around one-hundred million per year, while digital technologies allow anyone easily to create short- films through some free or cheap software. For example, the iMovie app on the iPhone which costs just 5 dollars, can assist people to make plenty of medium-quality videos or clips.
On the other hand, despite these advantages mentioned above, I believe that produce individual film is a negative development for various reasons. First, Should films are produced with a tight budget, they may not have a high-quality. While the professional theatre has to pay a high salary for famous actors, the personnel films are performed by amateur actors, which means it can not display emotional expression as vividly as the way high-quality movies do. Second, it can spread incorrect information. With modern communication devices, the number of people gets news online increases dramatically, so they can watch many viral videos or short-movies contain rumors or false information, which are made for improper purposes. A typical example of this is a short video “Communist Party of Vietnam is an evil” is made by “Vietnam Reform Revolutionary Party" - referred to as Viet Tan, which has hostile activities against the ambition of overthrowing the people's administration in Vietnam.
In conclusion, while I recognize the possible advantages of producing film by digital technology, I consider it to be a negative development overall.
